At the end of her 2nd semester at Northern Illinois University, and with a burning desire to pursue a career in live performances, and stage musicals Napata packed her bags and headed west. She has called California home for over 30 years.
Lying in the warm embrace of California Napata began to manifest her dreams of musicals and European stage performances. She performed a short stint as one of many-featured vocalist in a jazz band lead by the Master of jazz piano and B3 organ, The Late Great "Ed Kelly on Piano" with Pharaoh Saunders on Saxophone, and Eddie Marshall on drums. In 1982 Napata joined the longest running musical in the history of California, "Beach Blanket Babylon portraying the world renowned R&B Soul singer, Diana Ross while sharing the stage and lights with the stars of Beach Blanket Babylon, Val Diamond, Meg Ryan, Tom Anderson and the founder and producer, the Late Steve Silvers.
Soon after, Napata was invited to perform at the Russian River Jazz Festival with an illuminated, stellar star-line-up: the legendary Scat-man Crothers, Joe Pas, and Carman McCrae. This performance over the next few years would lead Napata to Jazz Stages across a few continents, Japan, Australia, China, and in Tunisia where she opened for Earth Wind and Fire at the Tabarkan Jazz Festival.
Napata has been the darling of Paris France for the past 15 years where she has performed to packed concert theaters and live television shows such as Le Cercle de Minuit. She also earned rave reviews at Paris' Quai Du Blues with her European sextet.
She and her sextet became one the favorites in the Blues and Jazz festivals in the surrounding countries of Europe, where they make their rounds annually.
In "85 with a desire to form a high-energy dance show for special event during Silicon Valley's Corporate Boom, Napata formed a 10 member Soul, and R&B Corporate Dance Band. With her dynamic Kiss Band, and her gifted duo backup, she refers to as the "Chocolate Kisses," Napata and her Kiss Band quickly became one of the top dance bands in Northern California.
